The
new emerging nanotechnology in medical field has become a controversial from
the society which is it affordable for everyone to pay for such advance
technology for health even for the one in poverty?
According
to the news and articles, Nanomedicine able to provide a patent and affordable
healthcare for every level of people at the same time help to improve the
standard of life for everyone.
The
costs of designing nanomedicine is highly cost, but once designing the
nanomedicine is done, nanomedicine can be produce in a large quantity which
eventually able to produce in economics of scale. Nanomedicine are produce in a
large quantity because human body is complex which requires thousands of
nanomedicine to be used for the whole treatment from the stage of diagnosis,
drug delivering to therapy. Thence, nanomedicine should be affordable to every
class of people.
However,
in 2003, studies show that it highly costs which around $800 million US dollars
is spent to introduce a new medicine to the market. Nanotechnology which needs
more advanced equipment and higher level of precision might lead a greater
costs over time, and subsequently increase the price when nanomedicine is
introduced to the market.
